100% ORIGINAL GERMAN WW1 WWI M1917 GAS MASK & CANISTER WITH STRAPS DATED 1918

Description: HELMETS OF WAR INC. DESCRIPTION This gasmask came from the relative of a direct vet from Yonkers, NY along with a matching bayonet from 1918 (simultaneously also listed here on eBay) and so may have been brought back from the Great War together. I believe this to be the 1917 pattern, well oiled leather mask, with the smooth side to the interior. The leather is still quite supple. The 1917 pattern sheet metal carrying canister is roughly 17cm tall with a 12cm diameter. The canister has a horizontal raised lip to the center, with a vertical crimped and brazed seam to the reverse. The top lid has a fold back, swivel wire attachment ring and pressure closure clip. I am not an expert on Ww1 German Imperial gas masks but I believe that this particular example is 100% untouched since 1918 and is fully complete along with its original canvas carrying straps.
