Description: A scarce early 1822 Pattern George IV 52nd (Oxfordshire) Regiment of Foot officer's sword. Etched clearly to both sides with the regiment and also the George IV crown and cypher. Complete with the original scabbard - the leather is a little fragile, but it's really not common to get these scabbards intact at all, as oil makes the leather rot. The blade is in very good condition, with a little patina and clear etching. The entire hilt is in very good condition, with quite a lot of the gilt remaining to the surface of the brass. There is a bit of movement in the guard, due to shrinking of the leather washer. A very good and scarce sword.
