Description: Tracts on Sundry Topics of Political Economy. Boston: Russell, Odiorne 1834. viii, 156pp. Apparently edited from the papers of Oliver Putnam, a prosperous Newburyport, MA merchant, by Caleb Cushing - future congressman, Attorney General, and diplomat who negotiated America's first treaty with China. Most of the contents were previously published in 1826 under a different title (Summary of the Practical Principles of Political Economy). The tracts include an analysis of the principles of political economy, and critiques of Smith's Wealth of Nations, Say's Political Economy, and McCullough's Political Economy. Ex-library. Front board detached, rear board weakly attached, corners worn through, chipping to spine. Pages have scattered foxing and sporadic pencil markings/notes.
