Description: This very RARE Card was produced by the Allen & Ginter Tobacco Company of Richmond Virginia during the late 1880’s as an insert in their brand of OUR LITTLE BEAUTIES Cigarettes and Tobacco in the United States. Burdick list the series a “Actresses and Celebrities” N60 in his American Card Catalog. The card features a photographic image of a Victorian stage actress or celebrity of the time. There are two main variations on this series. One was issued with the brand name on the front of the card, and one was issued without it. This card was issued without the brand name on the front. This is an unusual card in the series as it features neither an Actress or Celebrity, but a photographic image of a laughing baby and the caption “I should Smile” The Card measures 1 ½ inches by 2 3/8 inches approximately. The card does have some surface wrinkling and spots of print wear to the back, as well as some discoloration. However it is free from major creases. I have provided a fairly large scan of the front and back for you to be able to judge condition for yourself . This is a very scarce series to come by , and a card that isn’t an actress or celebrity is an even tougher find.
