Description: William Mortensen 35mm slide titled- The Blonde. It was distributed by Photographic Industries inc. San Diego California c1950 but the actual photo may have been taken in 1940s. A scratch is seen on the right side of scanned image. Only the 35mm slide is for sale, other images are used for comparison and belong to respectful owners. Mortensen has his signature on the bottom left corner. The photographer- William Mortensen was a Hollywood insider from the 1920s capturing studio glamour photography and experimented with pictorial art edits. His work became controversial when showcasing dark occult behavior and was outcasted by societies. Mortensen started up a school of photography in Laguna Beach, contributed to Camera magazines with leading photographers of this generation, and wrote some of the most detailed tutorial books involving model photography. The collection- This collection was a series of models all believed to be from the 1940s. It is discovered in another image, Mortensen may have been working along side with a cosmetic surgeon to render facial images prior to surgery with nude photography. Photographic Industries distributed this collection but is unknown where and how many were printed. Photographic Industries also distributed Earl Morans nude photography. Both artist were crossed over in pictorial art photography catering to Hollywood stars. Photo Comparisons- (Please contact me for images)1. The first image is a direct scan. The following images were reduced by 10% horizontally to compensate for wide angle lens. 2. The close up shows 3 facial comparisons. The 35mm image nose may have been rendered with layering techniques. The middle photo shows the nose that has been altered. The right image shows Loretta had a very unique nose tip feature. All facial features match comparing eyes, eyebrows, nose bridge, eyebrow spacing, forehead, chin, ear shape, hairline. It is hard to see but Loretta is wearing a button shape ear ring on 35mm image. 3. The breast shape and size matches comparing to a later taken photo. If you look closely at the neck V shape muscle running from the ear down to chest, the left side there is a slight lump on both images. This is another key indication match with unique feature. 4. Another 3 facial comparison. The first 2 images shows similar button style ear ring, it is faded and hard to see on the 35mm image. All facial features matches. The middle image shows the mid hairline was added, this was common to change hairstyle and add volume in front wave. The lipstick is overfilled to add volume on first 2 images matching the size while the 3rd image shows a under application. 5. Another 3 facial comparison. The 3rd image shows a different nose shape from other images indicating Loretta may have had work done more then once. The first 2 images has a good comparison of ear shape. Some variation from the lens, zoom, head tilt, and ear ring worn on first image. 6. This closeup is to compare the nose shape and tip. In this year the shape, nostril size, tip matches, some altercation has been made in area between the nostrils. 7. This image is recorded from 1930, would be teenager. It shows some asymmetry on nose which made her a candidate for rhinoplasty. A zoom in shows some skin discoloration in 2 spots on the nose which could mean slight reconstruction could have already took place. Based on the comparisons above from 1930s to 1950s the nose shape appear to change 3-4 times. This same case was seen with Marilyn Monroe's nose, preteen photo shows huge asymmetric difference in my other lot. This closeup shows good detail on eyes, the shape is an exact match with particular attention to the right inner double eyelid crease. This is a unique feature as it is asymmetrical from the left side with more surface area. The black and white version of this image was published in The Model book, How to pose in 1956.
