1982 ESP 400 Series Vintage S-Style Guitar Sunburst w/ Case, Japan

Description: Up for sale, a 1982 ESP 400 Series S-style model in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. The 400 Series guitars were crafted in Japan during the ‘80s and ‘90s, featuring top-notch fit and finish work, faithfully capturing the cosmetics and tonal attributes of their American counterparts. This particular example of ESP’s take on the Strat platform has been upgraded with a pair of Fender American Vintage 57/62 single coils in the neck and middle positions and an Amalfitano VS single coil at the bridge. Tonewoods include an ash body, maple neck, and 22-fret rosewood fretboard, and this 400 Series Strat weighs 8lbs 5oz. The Amalfitano VS (Vintage Set) single coil at the bridge features Alnico 3 construction, with staggered, unbeveled pole pieces, designed to deliver the airy sparkle of a genuine vintage ‘50s Strat pickup, with plenty of gutsy twang and a sweet harmonic bloom when notes ring out. The 57/62 pickups also deliver quintessential Fender shimmer and snap, with hollow quack at the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector switch. This 400 Series Strat has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. Neck Specs: -Wood: Maple -Shape: Slender C, measuring .795” 1st fret, .910” 12th fret -Fretboard: Rosewood, 9.5” radius, 22-fret -Frets: Slender, leveled and crowned, no wear -Scale Length: 25 1/2” -Nut: 1.650” (42mm), bone (replacement) -Tuners: Gotoh Deluxe, Kluson-style -Headstock: Mid-’80s shape, block ESP logo (no gold shadow) -Serialization: “Made in Japan” stamp on peghead, five-digit stamp on neck plate Body Specs: -Wood: Ash -Pickups: Fender American Vintage 57/62 single coil x2 (neck, middle), Amalfitano VS single coil (bridge) -Harness: Japanese pots date to July, 1982 -Hardware: Vintage-style six-point vibrato (original arm), black jack cup (replacement) -Plastics: Three-ply black pickguard, knobs/pickup covers The gloss Sunburst finish has a notably broad, vibrant red band, and cosmetic wear includes buckle rash at the treble side of the back, pick scuffing and a few tiny dings on top, and some faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth finish on the neck profile is flawless. The original molded hardshell case is included.
