1991 Vintage Totally Hair Barbie Artist Restoration, Custom Dress, Earrings

Description: This Totally Hair Barbie was very well-loved in her previous life, and after a restoration and fresh fit, she's ready to be loved again! As a professional artist, I looked at this doll as an icon and thought about how I wanted to interpret her dress. She didn't have her original outfit, and I wanted to create something similar but with my own spin. I used paint markers to draw the design on the fabric. After setting the design into the fabric with heat, I washed it and then designed and sewed a simple dress. Her headband is a piece of hand-dyed fabric, tied around her head. Her earrings are original, but I remade her ring. Her necklace is a piece of recycled pink plastic from old Barbie packaging. Her hair was a train wreck and took a lot of love and care to bring back to its former glory. As you can see in the last photo, there is some breakage evident. Overall though, her hair is very soft and shiny, once more flowing freely, with the crimp put back in. Her body does have some marks of wear and scratching.
