Early on, he made President Richard Nixon “enemies list,” and in the 1980s, when President Ronald Reagan vetoed his anti-apartheid legislation to put the arm on the separatist government of South Africa, Congress overrode the veto, the first time Congress voted to override a president’s foreign-police veto in the 20th century. He was elected as a Vietnam War dove and during his career, opposed every major U.S. military intervention and served as the lead plaintiff in a 1990 lawsuit against President George H.W. Bush to prevent a military buildup in the Middle East. The door hanger includes Dellums’ endorsements for other offices and issues, from Arkansas Gov.
