The route connected the European states at the Mediterranean Sea and the lands on the southern shore of the Baltic Sea. The route was named after the major object of the traveler's desire which was amber. At the bottom, along the rim semicircular inscription in Polish "Stare Hradisko". The coin reverse depicts in the center, a Roman covered wagon pulled by two horses. The bust profile portrait of a Roman legionnaire oversees the transport. In background a map of the Baltic Sea, indicating the coastline and location of Wroclaw.
