Description: Little Drops of Water Queen Saint Elizabeth (Isabel)Elizabeth was born in 1270, in Saragossa, Spain. She was daughter of Pedro III, the Great, and of Constance of Sicily. She married King Dinis in 1282 and went to live in Coimbra. Elizabeth was always very kind, protective and supportive of the most unprotected and needy, but King Dinis did not approve of her ways. One day, hidden from her husband, she put bread on her cloak, to give to the poor. King Dinis surprised her and asked, what was on her lap. Elizabeth replied, "Roses, sir!" "Roses? In January? "The king questioned and had his reservations. It was then, that the miracle happened. The queen opened her cloak and, instead of bread, beautiful roses fell. Throughout her life, the Holy Queen had hospitals built, institutions to welcome and help the poor and sick, and shelters for women. In 1516 she was beatified by Pope Leo X, and in 1625 she was canonized by Pope Urban VIII.Beautiful small figurine for your child to teach them about their faith and the saints.
