Description: 6456 g / 227.7 oz of scrap, de-legged, vintage DIP IC chips from mostly military, government, scientific & medical electronic devices and server/workstation computers from the 1970’s through the 1990’s for gold & other precious metal recovery. These are of the “smaller” sized DIP IC variety. Along with gold, palladium and silver are also known precious metals to be used in the fabrication construction of this type of IC chip, especially from military/government electronics, but no guarantee as to what degree or the chances of recovering any from this lot or any other. Each of the following will be kept separate from the other in their own packaging, but all in the same shipping box. 4512 g / 159.2 oz – chemically de-legged1944 g / 68.5 oz – close-snipped de-legged These in this collection of IC chips that have had the legs removed already, whether by hand and/or by CuCl2 acid digestion, was to reduce base metal to contend with during further processing, as well as to help save storage space until later processing, or in this case shipping, but the chips themselves are still mostly intact. On average, IC chip leg removal prior to incineration removes ~20% (varies by IC chip type) of weight from each chip, so for these that have had the legs removed already, keep that in mind on what they would’ve roughly weighed with the legs still attached… saves the PM R&R processor time and energy, therefore more bang for the buck. No chemical use affected any precious metal from within the IC chips, just the base metal legs. Most stickers have been removed, but not on every single chip. What’s shown in the pictures are of the IC chips only that is up for sale in this listing. The scale and any weighing trays/containers are not included. Each weighing tray/container was tared prior to adding material for weighing. Given the nature of these IC chips being sold as scrap, they are being sold as non-functioning/untested parts, and therefore are being sold AS-IS with no returns. We do not guarantee any % of recovered precious metal(s) from any e-waste scrap, even though precious metals are a known ingredient from these items to some degree.
