Description: Rare, highly collectible 1990s to early 2000s limited edition designer handbag from Lulu Guinness London. This original, earlier bag was made in London, not in China. Collectible purse in a limited edition of 500. (This was No. 42)Top features a selection of rich chocolate candy creations rendered in fabrics.The purse color is known as Lilac. (Think there was a later one in black or navy.)It was hard to find a precise date. The noted dates varied from 1990s to 2002. Think this was the earlier one because it was made in England rather than China.As a petite collectible handbag, obviously made for adults but would be perfect for the Little Rich Girl. The bucket portion is approx 5" Extra Positives! ~ Original Lulu Guinness tag AND price tag still attached. ~ Price tag shows purse from Bergdorf Goodman, priced $695 ~ Complete with its original Lulu Guinness London dust bag in pale lilac. ~ Offering for LESS THAN half original price 25 years ago. Handbag's deficits: One chocolate was replaced. While possibly never used, the handbag does have some light spotting on base. Finally, it appears the original owner received this wildly expensive gift for her birthday, and the person put a note inside the handbag. With the note's ink fresh, it seemed to transfer to the bag's interior label. OR, the generous gift giver actually wrote the message ON the label, which is hard to imagine but possible. The other possibility is that Lulu did signings and penned a bday message on label. That sounds crazy but I've only ever seen three chocolate box purses (and this is the only older one), and all three had writing on label. See photo. Great fashion gift for the collector of rare purses, figurative handbags, or straight-up Lulu Guinness, most notably her Collectable Series. This rare item, a little piece of art itself, has a lot going for it, but please keep the small issues in mind.While this makes a dreamy present any time, would also be brilliant for the giver to ... put a ring in it!
