Bilingual edition with French on verso and English translation on recto. Printed in Eric Gill's Perpetua type at Wild Carrot Letterpress on mould-made paper and photogravures printed on a handmade etching paper, both made by Cartiere Enrico Magnani of Pescia, Italy. Illustrated with eight photogravures by Robert Mapplethorpe protected with tissue guards. Photogravure plates made by Jon Goodman. Full maroon goatskin binding lettered in blind. Black cloth covered slipcase line with felt-type material. CONDITION: Slightly uneven coloration of the morocco leather with an area of fainter coloration in the upper half of the front cover (see photo #5). Tiny dimple depression at top of rear cover and 4 or 5 faint dark spots here as well, appear intrinsic to the leather sample and not external stains or defects (see last photo). Otherwise fine. Slipcase in fine condition. DISCUSSION: A handsome design and presentation by Sidney Shiff of Arthur Rimbaud's youthful work of passion. Several of the Mapplethorpe photos are among his most famous.
