When it was finally released it lived up to all expectations. In advance of the release of the first season was this great promo card with a wonderful color photo of George Reeves as Superman topped by the traditional Superman logo. Superman is one of those three or four fictional characters who is known throughout the entire globe. He is, most likely, the greatest adventure hero ever. For those of us who read Superman Comics and grew up in the 1950s, George Reeves was Superman. Not only was George Reeves the perfect Superman; he was the perfect Clark Kent. We loved John Hamilton as Perry White, Phyllis Coates and Noel Neill as Lois Lane, Jack Larson as Jimmy Olsen, and Bob Shayne as Inspector Henderson. We were all horrified on June 16, 1959, when we found out that Superman had killed himself. (Well, that is still open to speculation. If you want to read a great book about the death of George Reeves, check out "Hollywood Kryptonite" by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger.) No collection of Superman items is complete without this beautiful promo card. Remember, this outstanding Superman item is in NEAR MINT-MINT condition.
