Description: Antique 1880 Framed Chromo-Lithographic Book Plate, Windsor Castle Brilliant color print, well-preserved. There are some very minor condition issues. Please read below for a detailed description. Printed and engraved by by B. Fawcett, Driffield. This beautiful attractive color plate is the first image in Vol. 1 of "A Series of Picturesque Views of Seats of The Noblemen and Gentlemen of Great Britain and Ireland" as presented by F. O. Morris. A greater proportion of the drawings which originated from the publication were by Alexander F. Lydon, and printed from colored wood-blocks using the Baxter process by Benjamin Fawcett. Dimensions:Frame = 12.75 x 11 inchesImage Size = 7.5 X 5 inches Mat Opening = 7.75 x 6 inches Condition: The print is bright and shows no obvious fading or discoloration. The detail is stunning even under 30x magnification. There is a 1/8 inch spot of damage to the plate above and to the right of the text (see last photo). The frame is sturdy and clean with only very minor scuffs and scratches only visible upon close inspection. The glass clean inside and out and free from scratches.
