Description: Hard-to-find large version of De Morgan’s most popular tile design, commissioned for the heating furnaces of Barnard, Bishop, & Barnard’s and produced ca. 1885-1907. Indistinct Sand’s End Pottery stamp on reverse. A few nibbles affecting edges, as shown. Normal craquelure and small glaze irregularities befitting its age. Beautiful saturated Persian blues and greens truly stunning in this size. Shows well or a frame would easily disguise edge issues. 8” square.
