Description: These 2-in wide strips of silk fabric with colorful embroidery were pulled from a dusty cardboard box stuffed with lace, doilies, trim and hankies that came from an estate sale I visited last fall. I've been picking through those boxes for quite a while. I pulled all these out, gave them a gentle steam pressing and I find them to be quite delightful! I can't imagine what kind of a garment they came from; it was a dress or some kind of a robe I suppose. The black fabric is a sort of medium weight woven silk. It's not crepe. The embroidery thread is also silk. There are 18 strips that are of useful size: 8 are 12" long, 6 are 10" long and 4 are 9" inches long. That totals 16 ft. There are three different color combinations of flowers in the pattern. Some pieces have pink and yellow flowers, some have blue and yellow flowers and some have pink and lavender flowers. You'll have to look closely the pictures to figure out which is which. The pink and lavender only appear in 12-in strips. And for some reason in the pictures with the pink flowers, the pink flowers look kind of orangey but the pink is the same in all the pieces. I also took a picture of the back of one of the pieces. I understand that this is a very unique and unusual offering. If you were buying trim that was embroidered like this you would pay a dollar or more a foot. But because there are no very long pieces, and because the edges aren't finished, these pieces are going to present challenges to whoever is using them for whatever creative purpose they are put to. Therefore, I'm putting a starting bid on it of $40 which is only $0.25 a foot.
