Description: This is an extremely rare, circa 1909, oyster bowl / plate made by Minton especially for Tiffany and Co. New York. (like the other set I have listed but with a nearly imperceptible oil type spot.Beautiful sunburst gold encrusted trim. This is not a common shape for an oyster "plate", but Tiffany also commissioned Lenox to make at least 2 different patterns with this same shape that were designated as being "oyster plates".Not flat like the traditional oyster plate, but has 6 indentations to accommodate oysters.I was not able to find a similar example from Minton in this shape so it must be quite rare. I did find a number of dinnerware pieces in this same pattern H1032 by Minton also for Tiffany. Apparently they did not make it for general sale. Each piece is 8-1/2 inches in diameter and about 1-3/4 inches deep.Double boxed for secure shipping Tiny spot that resembles an oil spot on clothing which is only visible on close inspection--otherwise perfect with no cracks or chips
