Description: Antique Vintage Spatula Cake Turner Floyd Snyder Baking Company Wooster, Ohio Peacock Bread A cool old advertising cake turner from the Floyd Snyder Baking Company in Wooster, Ohio. It says "The Floyd Snyder Baking Co. Wooster Ohio" and "At Your Grocer Peacock Bread" on the handle. The reverse side of the handle says "Pat.11-24-14" which is the patent date. The spatula side has a hole to prevent sticking and is pointed which would be ideal for lifting a cake serving. The end of the handle is a bottle opener which is typical of these older kitchen utensils. I couldn't find anything about The Floyd Snyder Baking Company on-line. I sent an email to the Wayne County Historical Society and they found a mention of a Floyd Snyder who built a new home on the corner of Quinby and Rebecca St. In 1918. They also indicated a Snyder and Keister Bakery on Liberty St. in 1908-1909 and a Snyder Bakery was also listed in the 1928 city directory, also on Liberty St. They could find nothing about Peacock Bread which I presume was a product of the bakery and sold locally. This cake turner has served many slices of cake. The silvering or chrome has mostly worn of the spatula end (Please see photos.) The handle also has wear (Please see photos.) There is some rust but I will leave that to the buyer to clean off. (Please see photos.) It is approximately 11 3/8 inches long and 2 5/8 inches wide at the widest part of the spatula. A neat old relic from the early days of Wooster, Ohio for the bakery or bread advertising collector, the Wooster or Wayne County collector or for display in a rustic farmhouse country kitchen.
