Description: -Clay-based substrate that provides essential nutrients to your plants and helps maintain the water pH and hardness levels. -The steps to use aquarium soil in your planted aquarium:1.This soil does not need to be rinsed before use. Simply open the package and pour the soil into the aquarium. Spread the soil evenly on the bottom of your aquarium. You should aim for a depth of around 1.5 inch to 2.5 inch in the front, if foreground plants are to be used, and in between 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch in the background 2.Once the soil is in place, you can wet the soil with water using a spray bottle. 3.Plant all live plants in the substrate in the moist soil. Press the plant roots gently into the soil, making sure not to damage them. We recommend using a fine tip pinsettes for easy planting. It’s better to plant the plants too deep than too shallow.4.Fill your aquarium with water. It's best to fill your aquarium slowly to avoid disturbing the substrate. Place a plastic bag, plate or anything similar on the substrate so that the water doesn’t get poured direct onto the soil. Since the soil is very light, it can be easily disturbed. 5.Cycle the Aquarium: After planting your aquarium, it's essential to cycle it before adding any fish or other aquatic creatures. Cycling involves establishing beneficial bacteria that help break down waste products and keep the water clean. We recommend cycling the tank for at least 3 weeks. -How much soil do I need?oLength x Width x Desire Substrate Height (in inches) Divided by 60 = Liter of soil neededoFor example if you have a 10 gallon (20” L x 10” W x 12” H ) tank, and your desire substrate height is 3 inches, you would need 20 x 10 x 3 / 60 = 10 Liter of soil -We have 2 soil granule sizesoNormal Granules – about 3 to 4.5 mm in diameterGood for larger tanks (20 gallons or above) with larger plantsoFine Granule – about 1 to 3.5 mm in diameterGood for smaller planted tanks (less than 20 gallons). Fine granule can also be used as a top layer in foreground for larger tanks. Finer soil granules help small root plants, such as Hemianthus Callitrichoides, to root in the substrate easier.
