Description: BENCHMADE 820S ASCENT. The smaller version of first Ascent was the model 830 with a 3.5" blade. The latest additions to the family are the model 820, with a 2.9" blade and the model 840 with a 3.9" blade. All models feature utility ground blades of ATS-34 steel heat-treated to 59-61 RC, and all models are available in plain or ComboEdge in satin finish or with our BT-2 coating. The Ascent family has a number of features that set them apart from other lightweight knives. Some of those features include Zytel handles, black stainless steel pocket clips, ambidextrous opening holes, licensed by Spyderco, and stainless steel inserts for the pocket clip screws.
