Description: 1932 Chicago Tribune headline display newspaper which "translates" to "US TELLS CHICAGO - NO FINANCIAL AID FOR YOU !" - inv # 7J-310 Please visit our EBAY STORE for THOUSANDS of HISTORICAL NEWSPAPERS on sale or at auction. SEE PHOTO----- COMPLETE, ORIGINAL NEWSPAPER, the Chicago Tribune (IL) dated June 23, 1932. This newspaper contains a bold banner headline: "DENIES US AID FOR CHICAGO", a 1932 headline similar to the famous 1975 headline from the NY Daily News: "(President) FORD TO (New York) CITY - DROP DEAD." On October 29, 1975, President Gerald Ford gave a speech denying federal assistance to spare New York City from bankruptcy. The front page of the October 30, 1975 Daily News read: "FORD TO CITY: DROP DEAD" Ford later said the headline had played a role in his losing the 1976 presidential election. This is a 1932 headline that predated the more famous 1975 Gerald Ford headline regarding financial aid to New York City. Very good condition. This listing includes the original newspaper, NOT just a clipping or a page of it. STEPHEN A.
