Description: Antique wooden frame for a 8 1/4" x 11 1/2" picture. Handmade. Circa 1880 ; this frame formerly held a print made in the late 1870s. Mitered corners. Broadly beveled outer surface. Original old metal hanger attached at the top. Includes the original wood back board. ---------- Frame dimensions: Overall size : 12 3/4" x 16 X 1 3/8" Rabbet : 8 3/8" x 11 3/4" ( this is the size of a picture which will just fit inside the frame ) Sight : 7 9/16" x 11 1/4" ( this is the viewing area, as seen from the front of the frame ) Back board size : 8 1/4" x 11 3/4" ( 1/4" thick ). ------- Condition. The wood is oxidized with age ( it takes the passage of many, many years to create this surface coloration ). The corners are a bit loose. No glass. The old metal hanger is still well attached. The original back board is oxidized on the side which was exposed to the air. The inner side of the board ( which was protected by a print for a very long time ), is still much lighter. Otherwise good. Handmade, around 145+ years old. Carefully packed for shipment to the buyer.
