Description: Death Is A Lonely Business by Ray Bradbury. First Edition, Signed, dated (the month after publication) & Inscribed by Bradbury to the front free end paper. Octavo, tan boards, quarter bound cloth spine, black with gilt lettering. Corners lightly bumped. There is no writing within save the authors. Spine is taut and straight. Jacket in VG with some rubbing, edgewear, handling wear and has been price clipped. Overall a very nice copy. . This is the first in a series of three mystery novels Bradbury penned styling himself as the main character/narrator, who is never named within the book. The narrator is described as a sensitive modest writer. The story is set in the late 40’s and is about a series of homicides in Venice Beach, CA where Bradbury lived for 8 years. The structure and writing is said to recall Hammett, Chandler, MacDonald and Cain, all of whom Bradbury mentioned in his dedication for the book. A really nice signature and a fine collectible being the first in the trilogy and signed just a month after publication! . Knopf 10/1985
