Description: This Is A Very Nice Early Small Document Box. It Has What Looks Like The Original Hinges And Lock. There Is No Key For This Box But A Small Size Skeleton Key Should Fit It. I Think The Latch On The Top Of The Lid Is A Little Bit Off. The Lid Might Be A Little Bit Warped But I Think If You Found A Key You Might Be Able To Lock It And The Lid Would Be More Closed. The Base Of This Box Has A Nice Lip Around It. Many Of These Boxes You Find Do Not Have Any Detail On The Bottom Like This One Has. It Is Not Very Heavy So I Would Guess It Is Made Of Pine. It Measures 13 Inches Long, 10 Inches Wide And 7 Inches Tall. I Would Date The Piece To The Late 19th Century. These Boxes Are Great To Store Papers In Or Even Candles.
