Description: Rare Large Fancy Antique 18th Century Large Colonial New England PEWTER PLATTER/CHARGER/TRENCHER, IDENTIFIED WITH OWNER'S INITIALSDESCRIPTION: Scans show it all.....beautiful, rare, very early, antique colonial pewter platter. Called a charger or trencher back then. Measures about 13 3/4" in diameter. Much, much scarcer than a typical plate, especially this fancy style. Has early owner's initials stamped in back, appears to be "I.D. or F.D." Extremely rare to find this type of identification. This can be used as a functional item or PARTICULARLY NICE & RARE AS AN ANTIQUE OR COLONIAL PERIOD DECORATIVE ITEM, with a collection, on a mantle, in a dining room or kitchen, or on the wall, etc. In fact, someone put a small hole in the edge, with a piece of wire, to enable hanging on a wall.Definitely an 18th century piece, probably c.1760-70, and certainly REVOLUTIONARY WAR PERIOD. In nice condition overall with REALLY NICE AGED PATINA. Shows its age and use particularly nicely, and has a nice antique appearance. Originally came out of a local New England pewter collection and has been in my personal collection for many years.A great, special addition to any colonial pewter collection, for display, OR EVEN FOR USE. Would be a great, very unusual addition for use with your Thanksgiving or other special dinners. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS!!!Please see my auction list for other interesting items!!
