Description: 3e REGIMENT ETRANGER d’INFANTERIE. Type 5. (Grenade variation & small letters). Matte Gilt metal & enamel. Pebbled reverse marked A. AUGIS 28. MEE ST BARTHELEMY LYON. Long pastille. The original clear coating on the front of the badge has "chipped" in areas giving the obverse of the badge a kind of 2-tone look but it looks much better to the naked eye than a digital camera. (Reverse of the badge is Mint-) According to Andrew Mitchell’s book, this badge would have been made in the early 1950’s.
