Description: This is called a ‘ban chiang’, and it is a late Bronze Age pottery piece from Thailand from the 11th century BC. I absolutely adore this piece, and the only reason I’m selling it is for the same reason I’m selling everything else: I’m getting old, and I need to be stopped before I collect again. This piece is 7.5 inches wide and 7.5 inches tall to the top of the cover. There is no chip or crack to the piece, although it has the lovely patina and effects of ancient ware that help to confirm it as genuine. There is a healed chip on the lip: a healed chip is an ancient one that has been smoothed and patinated by age and taken as included in the piece. The price of this object, which is absolutely genuine and a wonderful display piece, is very fair. I will throw in the black steel wrought metal stand that I use in my own collection. The ban chiang was acquired as an estate sale purchase from a Thai-American businessman, from yet another ‘dead Dad collection.’ $219 with shipping gets it.
