Description: Up for sale: HELL NO NOBODY GOES end of the war 1967 VIETNAM WAR PROTEST portfolio. Printed by Nowels Publications (Menlo Park) for Midpeninsula Observer in 1967. Vietnam War protest Folio with 17 single sheet + 3 double sheet monochromatic images of protest and police resistance images. issued during Stop The Draft week protests. Organizers led 3000 marchers to the Oakland Army Induction Center on October 16, 1967. The sitting protesters forced draftees to climb over them in order to get inside the building. As inductees entered, protesters handed out leaflets, asking them to change their minds, refuse induction and join the protest. Police ordered protesters to leave, then attacked them with nightsticks, injuring 20. Forty demonstrators were arrested, including the folk singer Joan Baez. Throughout the week there were large-scale confrontations with the police as protesters fought back. Eventually seven activists (Reese Erlich, Terence Cannon, Mike Smith, Steve Hamilton, Bob Mandel, Jeff Segal, Frank Bardacke) - the Oakland Seven - were charged with "conspiracy to trespass, to commit a public nuisance, and to resist, delay, and obstruct police officers" following the demonstration but were all acquitted on March 28, 1969. "Stop the Draft Week" was one of the first major demonstrations against the Vietnam War, organized by a broad based coalition of peace, antiwar, civil rights, and labor groups. This portfolio was apparently created to raise funds for the Oakland Seven and is very scarce. The outer folder is 11" by 14" in size. The 17(11" by 14") single sheet photographic images and the 3 (14" by 22") double sheet images fit in a pocket on the inside of the folder. Overall, this portfolio is in very good condition, The outer folder hassome light edge wear. One of the double sheet images has a section along the fold line that is torn. All of the rest of the sheet images are in excellent condition. A very clean and attractive portfolio, no markings. Shipping is $7.00. International buyers must use Ebay's Global shipping program .
