Description: Here I have for sale a remarkably well-preserved Giant edition of Honore de Balzac's Lost Illusions published in 1968, illustrated and in this hardcover with dust jacket. This is the complete trilogy including Two Poets, A Provincial Celebrity in Paris and The Sufferings of an Inventor. Beautifully illustrated by Phillipe Jullian and translated by Kathleen Raine. The book is VG+ with clean boards and gilt and tight binding. The pages are pristine and unmarked except for a prior seller's penciled price on front endpaper. Foxing to topstain and some smudges to closed book page ends. The dust jacket is VG+ with no chipping. A small closed tear and some staining. Per Toledano, G7 spine and type Gj dust jacket. Thanks and see my other listings: Modern Firsts, Modern Library, Everyman's Library and Oxford World's Classics.
