This is the KKK’s history and status in the United States featured inside of a complete 1937 issue of LITERARY DIGEST Magazine. This issue includes the article "KKK." Three–page pictorial article with eight photos… Among them is an image of Hugo Black who was being opposed for the Supreme Court because of his alleged ties to the Klan... an image of a Klan membership form... a man tortured by the Klan... and HIRAM W EVANS the imperial wizard. There is a short piece elsewhere in the magazine, “KKK ABROAD,” which is essentially an indictment of the Nazis in Germany as inheritors of the KKK’s racism, drawing a line from the unsuccessful 1923 Hitler Beerhall Putsch and the growth of the Nazis. There are, of course, many other interesting features in this magazine…including a piece on speculation about a 3rd term for President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This is an interesting time capsule. It is in fine condition with typical vintage corner and edge wear. THERE IS SOME AGE DARKENING ON THE UPPER WHITE BANNER OF THE COVER... It's not mint, but fairly gently read and a scarce find!
