Description: This is an etching by well known Dutch artist Johan Barthold Jongkind 1819-1891, a painter and printmaker. He painted marine landscapes in a free manner and is regarded as a forerunner of Impressionism. The etching istitled “Entree du port de Honfleur”, plate signed and date 1863. It’s been trimmed to the plate marks and on a heavy paper sheet, with plate marks. It’s in very good condition, measuring 12” x 8 3/4”, in a 17 1/4” x 14 1/4”oak frame. It looks to have been framed in Boston, in the early 20th century, it still has a wooden backing. A
