John Lennon’s Mr. Kite Poster

Description: Working from incredibly detailed reference photos of the original poster not available to the public, I have created the most accurate replica of John Lennon's famous Mr. Kite Poster that will ever be seen! In order to achieve the best-looking and yet most accurate poster, I am using a blend of modern and traditional methods. Using up-close, high-resolution shots of the real poster (with skew adjusted to get the most on-face image possible), the art was recreated as a full vector design in Adobe Illustrator, allowing me to make minute tweaks to the artwork to ensure an exacting replica. I spent several weeks meticulously re-drawing the wood-engraved figures in a vector format, matching fonts, adjusting layout and, often, re-drawing fonts from scratch. Even the fonts I was able to match weren't perfect; as such, every single letter on the entire poster has been tweaked, re-worked, or re-drawn to be completely accurate. This final vector file was then used to create a polymer letterpress plate, for use on a vintage Vandercook Letterpress machine. In this way, the print will have a premium look and feel, made in the same manner as the original, but with the sort of accuracy that can only be achieved with modern tools. NOTE: Due to the hand-printed nature of this print, variations in ink coverage are to be expected. Some prints will have darker ink than others. While I feel that every variation has its own unique appeal, I also understand that my customers may have a preference on the matter. Printed on Crane's 100% Cotton Ecru Lettra letterpress paper, this is a museum-quality print that will last a lifetime. Short of scanning the original poster, it is unthinkable that anyone could match the accuracy of this replica. On top of that, I have used the most premium printing technique and materials in existence. And at roughly 1/3 the cost of the only other letterpress replica available (that is severely lacking in accuracy).
