His strong-willed girlfriend (Laurie), daughter of the CEO of Fielding Motors, comes to realize how important his passion for racing is and fully supports him to win his heart.A fun picture, in glorious Technicolor. Made by many of the same personnel who worked on THIS ISLAND EARTH (1955), it features a custom, fiberglass-bodied sports car made in Lynwood (a suburb of Los Angeles) by a small auto-maker company, Woody Woodill Motors. The model was the Woodill Wildfire, made from 1953 to 1957 in small, hand-crafted numbers. The film also features other rare early-1950s American sports cars made in small numbers by independent manufacturers. You'll see such rarities as a Kurtis Sportscar (about a dozen made), the Granthom Stardust (several made), the beautiful black Victress (nick-named the Thunderbird in the movie), as well as a Glasspar G-2. If you like rare American cars a high percentage of the film covers them. The story clips along at a breezy pace, trying to be appeal to its target audience without attempting more.
