Description: This listing is for a Kenwood KR-5400 Stereo Receiver in excellent cosmetic and functional condition. It has been tested/serviced and is working. It is rated at 35 watts per channel at 8 Ω, and features 2 phono inputs, as well as an Aux and two tape inputs/outputs. It has hook-ups for three pairs of speakers (two pairs can be used at the same time). It features a pair of rear RCA inputs/outputs for use with a 4 channel/noise reduction/sound processor unit. It also features a pair of adjustment knobs on the front panel that allow you to customize the Bass/Treble Tone controls to best suit your listening environment. A copy of the Product Brochure will be included to help you get a better understanding of all the features. The following outline covers the testing/service work done: · All speaker connections have been tested and are working, both right and left channels · The tuner was tested using a simple 300-Ω wire antenna attached. AM stations were received, but reception was improved with an additional wire antenna attached. The FM Stereo lamp was replaced with a Red LED. · Aux and both Tape inputs and outputs were tested and function as expected. · Both Phono inputs were tested and function as expected. · Headphone jack was tested and is working. · All Switches and Potentiometers were flushed with contact cleaner, followed by treatment with the appropriate DeoxIt treatment. · The faceplate, dial scale and all knobs were removed, cleaned and hand polished · All Radio Dial lamps were replaced with Warm White LED’s. The Meter Strength lamp was replaced with an Emerald Green LED. · The station pointer lamp was working at time of testing. · Output transistors were cleaned and replaced with fresh heat sink compound. · Cleaning on all exterior surfaces was done to improve appearance · The power cord was inspected and cleaned. · Any missing top cabinet or bottom plate screws were replaced · Watts/channel was checked using a Peak and RMS Output Meter to meet/exceed model specs · A final extended use test was performed to ensure functionality This listing describes the item to the best of our ability. Overall – this unit is in excellent condition, but like all units of this era they have some marks and other signs of wear. The most notable are small nicks on the top edge of the vinyl veneer wood side piece (see last picture). Many high-resolution pictures are included and should be considered part of the description to help you decide if the unit meets your requirements.
