The organized fight was going on until 1953. In 1953, the partisan movement’s structures were liquidated by the Soviets. The first partisan units were created in the end of the summer of 1944. Later, they formed some bigger structures of the armed resistance movement: military companies, partisan military districts and partisan military regions. The partisan leaders seek to unite all the partisan military territorial structures for establishing a centralized organization, which would coordinate the political and military fight to liberate Lithuania.
