Magruder, was presented to the army commission on July 5, 1939. Two months later, an order for 1,100 aircraft was received. The first serial B-26 took off on November 25, 1940.The V-26V version was distinguished by enhanced armor protection and improved armament, and later aircraft had an increased wingspan. Thus, they tried to reduce the landing speed, but this measure was not very effective due to the increase in the total mass of the aircraft.Subsequent versions, the B-26F and B-26G, had a wing angle of attack increased by 3.5° to improve takeoff and landing performance. A total of 5157 Marauder aircraft were produced.In total, 1883 B-26B aircraft were built at the Martin plant in Baltimore, and 1235 B-26Cs were produced in Omaha (Nebraska).Due to the high specific load on the wing, the unfinished mechanism for changing the pitch of the propeller and the weight distribution that did not correspond to the original project (the upper fuselage turret was not ready), piloting the early B-26s was a difficult task for pilots in training.
