Description: Mervyns California Missions Series Vintage San Antonio de Padua NO CROSS History: Mission San Antonio de Padua, named for Saint Antony, was established July 14, 1771. Third of the 21 California missions, San Antonio de Padua was built under the direction of Father Junipero Serra. Mission San Antonio de Padua was the site of the first California gristmill where wheat was ground into flour. The gristmill, along with the aqueducts that provided water, are still there today.
