Developed at GOI in 1954 based on the Flektogon optical scheme. At the World Exhibition in Brussels in 1958, a set of lenses, which included Mir-1, was awarded the highest award - the "Grand Prix". In 1959, the lens was awarded the Diploma of the II degree of VDNKh of the USSR.
