Description: NOS GM Pontiac 7298842 Stereo 8 track Tape Player in original cardboard box. These were used in 1967 Firebirds and GTO’s and can be dash or console mounted. This is the second rarest option behind the AM/FM Stereo Radio for 1967 & 68. I believe these were also used in full size cars as well. They reproduce the wood grain decal for the front and the Chrome 1967 bezel and rear mounting brace. You can find the 1968 bezel at swap meets or I have found them on EBay. I purchased 2 of these when you could still buy them new and put one in my 1968 GTO and kept this one in case I found and highly optioned GTO. How often do you see a new never used Stereo 8 Track Tape Deck come up for sale and if you don’t buy this one when will you see another come up for sale probably never. These are expensive to try to restore most of the time the chrome needs replating and heads and motors need replacing. They are only new once.
