Description: Opalescent Vaseline Tall Oil Lamp, Art Nouveau. From about 1895 to 1905, this European lamp was purchased by me in Sweden in the 1980's. The glass is likely Swedish and the working German Kosmos burner is in great condition but the wick knob is difficult to turn. The lamp base is classical with real alabaster. One foot on the base is slightly and almost imperceptibly bent about 1/16" off true level from the other 3 feet. The lamp shows nearly perfectly straight but its about 120 years old and has hand made metal screws and threads holding the parts together from the feet to the base to the glass and burner and so its not like its made with brand new computed CNC machined parts that are perfect in every way. The shade has a flea bite as pictured in the upper ruffled rim but the fitter rim is absolutely clean. The reservoir is perfect except for some minor petroleum residue that is faintly visible and which can likely be cleaned with lacquer thinner and there are a couple tiny included bubbles and carbon specs in the glass. But the reservoir and shade are hand blown and so cannot be perfect by definition. The chimney is new but the perfect size for this lamp and burner. The lamp measures 19" high without the chimney an 22" to the top of the chimney. The shade is 7" high and 5.5" wide at the top with a 2.75" fitter rim. The reservoir is 5.5" wide by 3.5" high. This lamp is really, really nice. The classical alabaster base is very rare and complete. Not a lot of these out there! From my personal collection. No international shipping. Thanks DZ
