Description: What you see is exactly what you will receive - shows age appropriate wear...may need to be conserved - old and fragile. Felice Orsini wrote this letter to French Emperor Napolean III from prison shortly before being executed. This is the letter written in his native language that was never sent... extremely rare piece of history from an early revolutionary and will need to be translated to be appreciated fully. Felice Orsini and his men threw three bombs at Napolean III. One bomb landed among the horsemen in front of the buggy. Another bomb wounded the animals and smashed the buggy glass. The last bomb landed under the buggy and seriously wounded a cop who was hurrying to protect the entourage. The attack killed eight people with the Emperor's military escort taking the the most damage. Estimates of the wounded ran to 150. Orsini was arrested the next day. It would make an excellent addition to any collection! Please see photos for item condition and description.
