Description: The late 1960s Tri-Compax examples in panda and reverse-panda dial motifs are referred to by collectors as the "Clapton" and "Evil Clapton" respectively as Eric Clapton wore the former. Rather than as a collector decades later, Clapton actually purchased his Tri-Compax right when it hit the market in 1967 – we spotted Clapton wearing the UG in a photo with Jimi Hendrix in March of '67. As the ref. 88101/02 we have here has a black dial rather than white, collectors began referring to it as the "Evil Clapton."Maker: Universal GenèveModel: Tri-Compax "Evil Clapton"Reference: 881101/02Year: 1960sCase No: Supplied on requestMaterial: Stainless steelDimensions: 36mm diameter; 13mm thicknessCrystal: Plexiglass (original)Lume: Yes, tritium (original)Caliber: Universal Genève, manually-wound, caliber 281, nickel finish, 17 jewels, manual winding, monometallic balance, shock absorberBracelet/Strap: Blue Watch Strap (no bracelet)Lug Width: 19mmBox/Papers: Yes/Yes
