Description: Offered here is a limited edition historical novel: Rockdale the growth of an American village in the early Industrial Revolution by Anthony F. C. Wallace, Norwalk, Conn.: The Easton Press, 1996. Collector's Edition. Fine in dark green leather covered boards with four raised bands on the spine with gilt text and decorations stamped in the compartments and with gilt tool work on both the front and rear boards. All three edges of the text block are in gilt and there is a silk placement ribbon sewn-in at the head of the spine. Hin or rubs o the bottom corners and rub on the gilt as seen. A small quarto measuring 9 1/4" tall by 6" deep containing 553 pages including an index, notes on sources and text. Illustrated with technical drawings by Robert Howard. One of the volumes in The Easton Press' collection of The Library Of American History series. It deals with the study of a small Pennsylvania village in antebellum America "caught in the middle of the forces that would eventually rent the nation's fabric...a small community built around a booming cotton mill industry." (Publisher's notes) The author provides detailed mechanical evaluations and drawings of the typical Rockdale mill during the formative years of the Industrial Revolution.
