Description: Up for sale is a copy of Volume 4 of the important "Reports of Explorations and Surveys to Ascertain the Most Practical and Economic Route for a Railroad from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean" published by A.O.P Nicholson in Washington in 1856. This is volume 4 only and contains information and plates related to the botany found on the trip. There are numerous black and white plates and one very large foldout color chart documenting trees. Again, volume IV only. The volume is complete with plates and the foldout present. Overall book exterior is in acceptable condition with heavy wear and loss at spine. Interior in better shape Fair condition with browning and wear. Plates are generally in decent shape with a varying degree of browning. Heavy on some very light on others. Wear to pages and plates at edges. Foldout has some splitting along a couple of the creases and light browning but in decent shape. By no means perfect, this volume is in decent shape on the interior and could be rebound. Please email with questions and see my store for other great items.
