All knobs operate the latch. Came from a large collection of wonderful solid cedar door cutouts (we never had opportunity for the doors). As we removed the hardware, the shop was filled with a pleasant cedar smell. Door cutouts were approx. 1 1/2" to 1 3/8" thick. 2" diameter knob and mortise inside is 1/2" thick.
