This is a vintage Selmer Paris 4-valve Bb/A in lacquer—the revered Maurice Andre model. S/n 539XX. It is in excellent condition: lacquer about 90% with some small spots of wear as seen in the photos, few if any dings at all and no signs of repair. It was obviously well cared for throughout its life. Just through the shop where it was ultrasonic cleaned, lubed, and had new tuning slide O-rings, water key cork, and piston felts installed. Note that this is oiled with synthetic valve oil (Hetman Classic) and that you should do the same or thoroughly clean the pistons and casings prior to switching to a petroleum-based product. Compression measures 2.0 on the magnehelic when freshly oiled—about normal for a used trumpet and very good for a vintage one. Valves are fast and smooth and quiet, all tuning slides free. Includes Bb and A pipes in a trumpet shank. Comes in a brand-new Kaces LUXE Series weather-resistant bag to which I had added additional internal foam, and it gives good protection as long as no one sits on it, but I’m assuming this would actually end up in your triple bag for better protection. A sought-after piccolo that was the best available for decades, and at a couple thousand less than a modern Schilke or Yamaha!
