Description: Handmade man's tapestry smoking cap or lounging cap. The round cap is 24" in circumference and 4" tall, size large. The cap has man beautiful colors in woven designs of cowboy or prospector, maybe even an early naturalist. He dressed in a black and red checked shirt, wearing chaps and a tan trilliby hat. He is riding a brown horse and is leading a palomino pack horse. The woven background shows high mountains streams and pine trees. The cap is decorated with a double tassel of forest green "silk look rayon". The double tassel is held in place with a unique antique shell button. The round 1 1/8" button has a hand carved design of a rounded six sided star. It has an inner lining of 100% cotton batting for warmth, and is lined with green 100% linen broadcloth. This is a new unused cap, from Turtle Run Mercantile.During Victorian and Edwardian times, after dinner, gentlemen left the ladies and gathered to smoke their cigars and share a drink. In order to spare the ladies the smell of smoke gentlemen would frequently don their "smoking jacket and smoking cap" which could be removed, along with the smoke smell. Civil War re-enactors enjoy wearing the warm caps on a cool evening around the campfire. Steam punk, Edwardian, cigar club members, or any distinguished gentleman, will enjoy the cap.
