Description: An illustrated, hardcover, souvenir, promotional album, 32 mo. (5 by 6 inches), published by an early Pasadena, Bookseller [1887, second edition] (in the style of the view books published by Ward Brothers of Columbus, Ohio, but this one is not identified as such). Thirteen unnumbered pages of plates folded leporello style, showing early views of the Pasadena, California community. Red beveled boards, title centered in gilt, and framed within ornamental patterns in blind on the front cover; with minor scuffing at the edges (not affecting contents). Good condition (old non-archival tape repairs to the folds, all of which are holding). The illustrations appear to be from early photos. Penciled name of "Walter Raymond" above "Published and For Sale by H. H. SUESSEROTT, Bookseller, Pasadena, California" on back pastedown. There is a "Birdseye View Of Pasadena," views of Mission San Gabriel, orange groves and vineyards, Sierra Madre, Orange Grove Avenue, the the original Raymond Hotel (which burned down in 1895), gardens and homes, and several old business buildings, among others.
