Don't worry, they plump back up when they hit the grill , and also shrink back down to about 4" once cooked. Also, since the burgers are pressed to uniform thickness, they all cook the same. I have a solo stove mesa xl and I needed a top to snuff out the fire when done and protect the inside when not in use. The way it is made with raised edges and the diameter make it a perfect fit.
